Via dei Terrazzamenti
A journey through terraced landscapes and vineyards, villages and churches, discovering a fascinating area of Valtellina. Autumn (or spring) is the best time to walk (or cycle) along the Via dei Terrazzamenti.
The cycling and walking path is located on the southern side of the lower and middle Valtellina. It connects Morbegno to Tirano, spanning 70 kilometers and ascending to heights of 700 meters.

You will have the chance to see the characteristic terraced vineyards, the timeless villages, forests, and the historically significant palaces of Valtellina. The Via dei Terrazzamenti tells the story and the toil of man in the fields in an unmissable corner of Lombardy. It showcases an ingenious way of working the land to produce excellent wine.
Via dei Terrazzamenti
A 70 km trail of terraced vineyards, a unique panorama in the world. Along the Via, you will find 40 rest areas equipped with benches and bike racks, located in picturesque spots where you can enjoy breathtaking views.
In addition to appreciating the scenic beauty, traveling along the Via dei Terrazzamenti allows you to discover a vast cultural heritage: churches, prehistoric sites, rural wineries, agritourisms, and ancient villages.
Stops and Route
- Morbegno - Berbenno
The first leg is 24 km long, passing through the Cèch hill, the village of Dazio, and that of Masino. The trail then reaches the Preda di Remenno, the largest monolith in Europe. It continues towards Ardenno, Gaggio, and Buglio in Monte, continuing on to Berbenno.
- Berbenno - Sondrio
The second leg, measuring 14.3 km, starts from the village of Berbenno, reaches the town of Polaggia, and continues towards Postalesio. The trail leads to Castione Andevenno up to Sondrio.
- Sondrio - Castionetto
The third leg, 16.4 km long, leads to Ponchiera and enters a beautiful chestnut grove before reaching the village of Montagna in Valtellina. The path then passes through Poggiridenti, Tresivio, and Ponte.
You then walk towards Castionetto.
- Castionetto - Tirano
The fourth and final leg of 18.3 km crosses the Torrente Val Rogna and reaches the village of Fracia. It continues on to Sant'Antonio and ascends towards Teglio, ultimately reaching the final destination: Tirano.
