Petra, a quaint and tranquil village nestled within the heart of Mallorca, may typically go unnoticed by the ordinary tourist. However, this inconspicuous hamlet holds a historical significance that may come as a surprise.

Petra, a modest town situated in the heart of Mallorca, exudes a sense of calm and serenity at first glance. The well-ordered, narrow thoroughfares are adorned with sand-hued limestone constructs, which inspired the Romans to name the village Petra, meaning "stone".

The landscape is punctuated by the vibrant emerald of numerous trees interspersed between the golden-brown building facades. While attractions for tourists are typically few and far between, Petra holds a unique hidden gem.

This region has been inhabited for millennia. Several archaeology sites within Petra's boundaries have yielded remnants from the Talayotic culture as well as a variety of artifacts such as amphoras, ceramics and burial urns from the Roman era.
