What are the beaches to visit on Isola d'Elba?
The island offers a variety of beaches, both free and organized, with crystal-clear waters, bays, and coves where you can escape the summer heat.
Where to go to the beach? If it's your first time spending time at Isola d'Elba, you must discover its beaches, among the most beautiful in Italy.
Which ones are must-sees? Here's our selection of those that are unmissable and less touristy.
Enfola, Portoferraio
It is formed by an isthmus, where the tuna fishing complex is located, thus facing two sides.
This creates two beaches, both of which are gravel. The southern gulf is more sheltered and sunnier. There is parking available and all necessary services.
Biodola, Portoferraio
Fine, light sand, gently sloping seabeds, and water in all shades of blue. It is one of the most famous beaches on the island, sheltered by the large gulf of the same name and suitable for children.
During peak season it is very crowded, partly because there are rentals for umbrellas and sunbeds, bars, and restaurants nearby.
Sansone, Portoferraio
Behind it rises a steep cliff that makes this beach quite unique. The shore is made up of small white pebbles of various sizes.
It is exposed to the open sea and is loved by snorkelers.
Lacona
The second longest beach on the island (more than a kilometer), sheltered by its gulf, and surrounded by sand dunes. The seabed is shallow, making it perfect for children.

It is always quite crowded, but due to its size, space is guaranteed.
You can rent umbrellas and sunbeds, pedal boats and inflatable boats, stop for coffee at the numerous bars, or eat at many restaurants overlooking the bay.
Le Ghiaie
This is the beach of the city of Portoferraio.
However, it is not less deserving: it has a rather secluded location, so it is not affected by the presence of the port - it is indeed exposed to the open sea - nor the city's traffic. The Medicean fortifications overlook it, giving it a picturesque appearance. The seabed is made of white gravel.
Marina di Campo
One and a half kilometers of sandy beach. One end reaches the delightful town of Marina di Campo.
Sheltered by the gulf, it is usually not affected by the winds. Behind it is a very wide promenade for walking or biking and all the services you could need. Ideal for families.
Sant'Andrea, Marciana
Yet again fine sand for this beach which is not too long, but characterized by the cliffs surrounding it, which are large granite slates.
It is protected by Cape Sant'Andrea and Cape Cotoncello. Ideal for snorkeling.
Fetovaia, Campo nell'Elba
One of the most loved beaches on the island and throughout the Tuscan Archipelago. Sandy, with shallow waters, it shines at the beginning of summer, with the blooming of sea lilies that color it.
Sheltered and surrounded by green hills, it is not marred by excessive construction but offers all the necessary services.
Cavoli, Campo nell'Elba
Well-known and heavily frequented during the summer, it is located on the western coast of Elba. Long, sandy, it is sheltered and protected from the winds.
The color of the sea here displays a thousand shades. In the eastern area, you can find the Blue Grotto, which can only be accessed by boat.
Spiaggia dell'Acquavivetta
It is one of the least touristy and most beautiful beaches on the island, protected by tall cliffs overlooking the sea.
The seabed slopes gently, making it a great spot to swim and relax with children.
