Starting January 15, foreign citizens visiting Hagia Sophia (which was converted into a mosque in 2020) for tourism will need to pay an entry fee of 25 euros.

With around 3.5 million visitors per year, the need to control visitor flow and reduce overcrowding has become essential to preserve the structure.

The plan includes managing the influx of tourists through diverse pathways: there will be two lines for entering the Basilica, one for Muslim worshippers who will continue to enter for free, and another for tourists who will need to pay a ticket costing 25 euros.

Hagia Sophia Opening Hours

The Hagia Sophia Mosque is open every day from 9 AM to 7:30 PM. For more information, visit the official website.
