A Pink Spring Just Steps from Turin

Every spring, the Reggia di Venaria dresses in pink. The reason? The spectacular blooming of Japanese cherry trees in the Cascatelle Garden, creating one of the most enchanting scenes in Piedmont. One of those places that looks like it came out of a postcard, but just a stone's throw from Turin.

This year, however, the success has been so overwhelming that the management has decided to limit access, introducing for the first time a capped number of visitors with mandatory reservations. A necessary choice to manage the record influx and protect the gardens.

Too Much Crowd? Reservation Required

Record blooming at the Reggia di Venaria: too many visitors, reservation required. Here's how to book and organize your visit.

The blooming of cherry trees in Venaria Reale has become one of the most anticipated events of the spring season in Piedmont. Due to an unexpected surge in visitors in recent days (over 50,000), the organization has decided to require reservations to access the Gardens of the Reggia.

To continue admiring the cherry blossoms in Venaria Reale, a reservation system with scheduled time slots for online booking is now in place.

In just a few days, thousands of people flocked to the Reggia. Endless lines, parking lots full by morning, chaos and indescribable stress: the situation got out of hand.

Therefore, from the end of March 2025, park access has become only available through online reservation, which can be made on the official site of the Reggia di Venaria or on that of the Royal Museums. The ticket grants access to the Gardens during a pre-scheduled time slot.

The heart of the blooming is in the Cascatelle Garden, where more than 70 ornamental cherry trees were donated by Japan in 2005. At the peak of the blooming, the park transforms: an explosion of pink petals that evokes the sentiments of hanami, but with a Savoia twist.

The trees frame the landscape, and every angle seems designed to end up on Instagram. No wonder that social media serve as a megaphone for the event, with viral videos and reels capturing the magic of the place.

A success that grows year after year, especially since Venaria is easily reachable from Turin and can be visited comfortably in half a day.

To experience the highlight of spring in Piedmont, it's best to plan ahead. Online booking is mandatory and spots fill up quickly, especially on weekends.

Given the large crowds, it's advisable to leave the car at home and use public transportation: the Reggia is connected to Turin via the Venaria Express line and GTT bus routes.

Bring your camera and set off for the gardens: hurry though, visits are available until April 6, 2025, marking the end of the seasonal peak.
